Why Does PDN Telemetry Matter?
PDN telemetry is critical throughout the silicon life cycle, spanning bench characterization to in-field monitoring. Power Distribution Network visibility is
nascent for most designs. Voltage is often measured at the VR (Voltage Regulator), or at the ball of the package. However, voltage at the VR (VVR) or ball is not the same as the voltage at the transistor (VTRANSISTOR). Proper circuit functionality is based on the voltage at the transistor level, not necessarily at the VR-level, ball-level, or bump level.
